My attempt at running!
:-O
(That's the look I expect to see from anyone who knows me well.)
RUNNING, you say?
Well you see, my boyfriend's a triathlete, and he's been nagging me to do more exercise since, well, the very first time we met. But my bum and my couch/bed/chair are very close friends, and I'm quite proud of my strict routine of no exercise.
However..
A friend of mine told me about the Couch to 5K app which apparently was really easy for couch potatoes like me, so after letting the idea sit in my head for months (and once all the fitness freaks around me have given up hope on me) I decided to give it a go.
Armed with a cheap MP3 player loaded with Week 1's podcast and my old walking boots, I went on my way - covertly of course, whilst my boyfriend was away..
OMG IT WAS BLOODY HARD. WHO SAID IT WAS EASY?!
It was just a simple 5-min walk, then 8 reps of 1-min runs and 1.5-min walks, but oh my word, by the 3rd rep I've started having trouble breathing. By the 4th rep, my legs were crying for me to stop. The 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th reps were all blurs of more pain and gritted teeth.
Now, two days on, my legs still hurt :S
I think I need to get proper running shoes.. or just (wo)man up..

| Maybe one day I'll be like this! (As in, the old lady in the background. Might take me awhile to get there.) |
